Summary:The finding of the invention consists of the fact that even data which, for a parameter for each grid position of grid positions of an irregular grid (58), have a parameter value as well as a common determination block containing proximity information indicating each grid position (1-20), to which or which of the grid positions the respective grid position is adjacent, can be compressed with a high compression rate, when their items of proximity information are used in order to establish, for the parameter value of a predetermined grid position, an approximation value from the parameter value of at least one other grid position that is adjacent to the predetermined grid position. A mapping of this approximated parameter value onto an interpolated value from which, in conjunction with the approximation value, it can be deduced, for example, the difference from the approximation value, and onto a statement from which the approximation value can be determined. A corresponding use of this procedure for a number of grid positions results in small interpolated values that, for bit representation or encoding, require fewer bits than the original representation of the parameter values, and only one statement, which can be represented essentially in an unabbreviated manner, can be determined from the approximation value.
