Summary: | The instrument, assembled of a hollow shaft (10, 11) accommodating an operating cable and two scissor-type handles (21, 23, 26), is fitted with a stationary (54) and a movable gripping element (56) at its distal end (14). After a knot has been tied by the surgeon, the gripping elements (54, 56) are moved towards each other, forming a circle positioned around one of the loose ends. By moving the circle assembled of the gripping elements (54, 56) towards the area to be treated, the knot is tightened and pushed firmly against the tissue.
