Use of random oligomers (A) as universal references for competitive hybridization of at least two samples, for normalization of experimental variations. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) method for comparing expression profiles of different samples by competitive hybridization; and (2) kit for comparing different samples by competitive hybridization. Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft die Verwendung von Zufallsoligomeren als universelle Referenz bei kompetitiven Hybridisierungen einer Probe zur Normalisierung von experimentellen Variationen zwischen zwei Arrays. Darüber hinaus offenbart die Erfindung ein Verfahren zum Vergleich der Expressionsprofile verschiedener Proben miteinander mittels kompetitiven Hybridisierungen.
