Air feed for a gas turbine is cooled in a quench cooler, using water as a coolant, to reduce the air temperature without loss of pressure

The air feed (1) for a gas turbine (T) is initially passed through a quench cooler (Q), where its temperature is reduced by a coolant medium (7) and preferably water. The quench cooler has a number of bases and/or at least one packing, to bring the air temperature of 15-50degreesC down to 4-15degree...

Summary:The air feed (1) for a gas turbine (T) is initially passed through a quench cooler (Q), where its temperature is reduced by a coolant medium (7) and preferably water. The quench cooler has a number of bases and/or at least one packing, to bring the air temperature of 15-50degreesC down to 4-15degreesC. The coolant water recirculates in a circuit (7-10), with a pump (P) and a heat exchanger (E).
