Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Herstellen eines Stents in Form einer tubulären Stützstruktur aus zumindest einem Faden sowie einen derartigen Stent. Hierbei wird zumindest ein Faden helixförmig auf einen Wickelkern aufgewickelt, wobei der zumindest eine Faden an Kreuzungspunkten über Kreuz übereinander abgelegt wird, so dass ein tubuläres helixförmig gewickeltes Gelege aus dem zumindest einen Faden auf dem Wickelkern entsteht. Anschließend wird insbesondere eine Auswahl an Kreuzungspunkten gefügt, insbesondere verschweißt.
