The insole (1) has a foam sole part (2) and a stiffening material e.g. rear cap material and toe cap material such as felt soaked with adhesive or thermoplastic, arranged in a heel region on a foot-facing side of the foam sole part in a wearing state. The stiffening material includes a recess having an open channel toward a front foot portion of the foam sole part, where the stiffening material is a rear cap or front cap material impregnated with an adhesive felt or a thermoplastic. The stiffening material includes a microfiber layer in the foot-facing side of the foam sole part. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a press device for manufacturing a multi-layer insole for a shoe (2) a method for manufacturing a multi-layer insole.
