Summary:The internal combustion engine (5) has an exhaust line (10) and a compressor (40) that is arranged in an air duct (50), where the fresh air supplied to a cylinder (8) of the combustion engine is compressed by the compressor. Another air duct (70) provided downstream of the compressor is branched off from the former air line to supply a burner (60) with compressed fresh air. The exhaust gas temperature of the combustion engine is increased by the burner. The supply of fresh air to the burner is inhibited by in a check valve in the latter air duct an operating condition of the engine. A measuring element, particularly a hot-film air-mass meter, is arranged for determining a mass flow of the fresh air supplied to the burner. An air filter is arranged upstream of the compressor. An independent claim is included for a method for the after-treatment of the exhaust gases of the internal combustion engine. Die Erfindung betrifft eine Brennkraftmaschine 5 sowie ein Verfahren zur Abgasnachbehandlung einer Brennkraftmaschine 5 mit einem Abgasstrang 10 und einem ersten Verdichter 40. Der erste Verdichter 40 ist in einer ersten Luftleitung 50 angeordnet, über welche der erste Verdichter 40 die mindestens einem Zylinder 8 der Brennkraftmaschine 5 zugeführte Frischluft verdichtet. Ferner ist im Abgasstrang 10 der Brennkraftmaschine 5 ein Brenner 60 zur Erhöhung der Abgastemperatur eines Abgases der Brennkraftmaschine 5 angeordnet. Es ist eine zweite Luftleitung 70 vorgesehen, wobei die zweite Luftleitung 70 stromab des ersten Verdichters 40 von der ersten Luftleitung 50 abzweigt und den Brenner 60 mit verdichteter Frischluft versorgt.
