Summary:The method involves adjusting target pressure (Sd) in a refrigerant circuit (1) based on a pressure temperature characteristic diagram by adding or removing gaseous medium i.e. compressed air, in a gas space (3) of a surge tank (2) using a pressure control valve (11). Tightness of the refrigerant circuit is determined based on minimum frequency of the pressure regulating valve within a predeterminable period during operation of a combustion engine. The tightness of the refrigerant circuit is checked or controlled based on currently adjusted pressure using a control unit (12). Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Steuern des Systemdrucks (S) in einem Kühlmittelkreislauf (1) für eine Brennkraftmaschine, wobei durch geregeltes Zuführen oder Abführen eines gasförmigen Mediums, insbesondere von Druckluft, in einen Gasraum (3) eines Ausgleichsbehälters (2) mittels eines Drtelkreislauf (1) anhand eines Druck-Temperatur-Kennfeldes eingestellt wird. Erfindungsgemäß wird anhand des aktuell eingestellten oder einzustellenden Systemdrucks (S) eine Dichtheit des Kühlmittelkreislaufs (1) überprüft.
