Summary:The method involves connecting an ignition output stage and an ignition coil to each other. A cut-off voltage peak (18) adjacent to a clamping circuit is analyzed after switching off current flow through the ignition coil. An error is detected, if a parameter of the cut-off voltage peak exceeds a threshold value. Duration of the cut-off voltage peak is measured and compared with duration of a predetermined threshold. The cutoff voltage peak is limited by the clamping circuit. Height of the cutoff voltage peak is measured as the parameter by a comparator circuit. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for diagnosis of an ignition system. Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Diagnose einer Zündanlage, die eine Zündendstufe mit einer Klammerschaltung, eine Zündspule und eine Zündkerze aufweist, wobei die Zündendstufe und die Zündspule miteinander verbunden sind, wobei nach einem Abschalten eines Stromflusses durch die Zündspule eine an der Klammerschaltung anliegende Abschaltspannungsspitze (18) untersucht wird, wobei ein Fehler nachgewiesen wird, wenn mindestens ein Parameter der Abschaltspannungsspitze (18) einen Schwellwert überschreitet.
