A weight compensation power is applied on the section to drawing direction with time increase, where the power partially or completely compensates the weight of the section. The drawing method for the production of a cylinder-shaped component from quartz glass, comprises stripping a quartz-glass strand (2) continuously from a softened quartz glass mass (13) in drawing direction vertically towards bottom, separating a section with a weight from free cord end to a time point and producing the cylinder-forming component from the section. A weight compensation power is applied on the section to drawing direction with time increase, where the power partially or completely compensates the weight of the section. The weight compensation power steadily increases from the time point t0 to the time point t1. The increase of the weight compensation power to the factor of 4-10 is greater in time interval between t0-t1 as the weight increase of the quartz glass strand in same interval. The sum of the weight compensation power is smaller than the sum of gravity. The weight compensation power on the lateral side of the quartz-glass strand influences to the drawing direction. The weight of the compensation power is produced in which the quartz-glass strand runs against an elastic thrust bearing during drawing. The weight of the cord is measured and the separation of the section is carried out during reaching an actual value. A pre-determined breaking point is provided on the quartz-glass cord and a mechanical clamp is set before the separation of the section. The clamp grips in the area below the pre-determined breaking point. The quartz glass mass is softened in a melt crucible and is stripped over a bottom drain as quartz glass cord.
