Summary:The method involves controlling clutch actuators by associating a torque to a corresponding clutch actuator stroke. An adaptation of a sample point in a position of a selector lever is executed for controlling a dual clutch transmission in reverse, forward or manual control positions of a friction clutch. The friction clutch is advanced by the clutch actuators when a motor vehicle is idle and a driving brake is actuated. The torque required for maintaining an idle-running speed of a drive unit is detected and evaluated as a variable to obtain the sample point.
