The method involves determining an oxygen concentration in suction pipe (20) as operating characteristics. The calculation of the nitrogen oxide-raw emission takes place as a function of the determined value of the oxygen concentration. The actual nitrogen oxide-concentration is calculated as a function of the actual oxygen concentration and the reference nitrogen oxide-concentration of the nitrogen oxide-raw emission and reference oxygen of the oxygen concentration in suction pipe. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a control device for calculating the nitrogen oxide-raw emission of an internal combustion engine from operating parameters of the internal combustion engine; and (2) a machine-readable computer program for a computer program product. Vorgestellt wird ein Verfahren zur Berechnung der NOx-Rohemissionen (NOx,AKT) eines Verbrennungsmotors (10) aus Betriebsparametern des Verbrennungsmotors (10). Das Verfahren zeichnet sich dadurch aus, dass als wesentliche Betriebskenngröße eine Sauerstoffkonzentration (O2,AKT) im Saugrohr (20) ermittelt wird und dass die Berechnung der NOx-Rohemissionen (NOx,AKT) in Abhängigkeit von dem ermittelten Wert der Sauerstoffkonzentration (O2,AKT) erfolgt. Weitere unabhänge Ansprüche richten sich auf ein zur Durchführung des Verfahrens eingerichtetes Steuergerät, ein entsprechend programmiertes Computerprogramm und ein das Computerprogramm aufweisendes Computerprogrammprodukt.
