Verfahren zum Antreiben eines Zylinders (11, 12; 15, 20) einer Druckmaschine, wahlweise über einen mit einem Hauptantrieb der Druckmaschine in Verbindung stehenden Zahnradzug (27) oder mittels eines Hilfsantriebes (29), wobei zwischen dem Zahnradzug (27) und dem Zylinder (11, 12; 15, 20) eine schaltbare, erste Kupplung (26) vorgesehen ist,dadurch gekennzeichnet,dass zum Antreiben des Zylinders (11, 12; 15, 20) mittels des Hilfsantriebes (29) der Hilfsantrieb (29) zunächst auf eine vorgegebene Drehzahl beschleunigt wird,dass daraufhin der Hilfsantrieb (29) an den Zylinder (11, 12; 15, 20) angekuppelt wird und dass danach der Zylinder (11, 12; 15, 20) vom Zahnradzug (27) abgekuppelt wird.
