An independent claim is included for a method for operating an oscillation-driven press foot of an embroidery machine. Stoffdrücker einer Stickmaschine, bestehend aus einem oszillierend angetriebenen Schwenkbalken an dem eine Vielzahl von biegbaren Andrucktatzen befestigt sind, die in Abhängigkeit vom Drehwinkel der Stickmaschine und vom Eintritt und Austritt der Sticknadeln in die Stoffbahn wahlweise auf die Stoffbahn drückend aufsetzen oder von dieser abheben, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Stoffdrücker von einem elektrischen Antriebsmotor angetrieben ist.
