The method for hot-forming and hardening a sheet metal component in an extrusion press tool (1), comprises introducing a heated sheet metal section (6) in the opened cooled extrusion press tool between a stencil (2) and a stamp (3), closing the press tool, forming the sheet metal section corresponding to the form of the stencil and the stamp, and hardening the sheet metal section in the cooled press tool in the contact area between the stencil and the stamp by quenching. The heated sheet metal section overlaps the closing zone between the stencil and the stamp by a corresponding section form partially with a boundary region (7, 8), so that during closing the press tool, the boundary region has no tool plant contact still it is not strongly cooled and hardened. The boundary region is post-formed in a subsequent post-forming process step by a relative motion between tool parts and reaches to a cooled tool region for hardening in plant. The stencil is replaced by the stamp in the post-forming process step with the formed sheet metal section and the boundary region without tool contact in pressing direction of the stamp by a further stamp movement between post-forming jaws. The outstanding boundary region of the sheet metal section is placed at the post-forming jaws against the pressing direction and is hardened by plant contact to the cooled press tool. The post-forming jaws are bottom-fixedly attached and the stencil is downwardly displaced by the stamp against a supporting force in the post-forming process step, if necessary after unlocking, so that the outstanding boundary region of the sheet metal section is upwardly placed at the post-forming jaws. A steel plate is used as sheet metal section, from which the sheet metal component is formed with flanges. The boundary region of the sheet metal section placed post-forming process step forms the flanges. The sheet metal section is heated in a furnace at 950[deg] C and then supplied to the opened cooled press tool. An independent claim is included for a device for hot-forming and hardening a sheet metal component in an extrusion press tool. Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Warmumformen und Härten eines Blechbauteils, wobei ein erhitzter Blechzuschnitt (6) in das geöffnete, gekühlte Ziehpresswerkzeug (1) eingebracht und beim Schließen geformt und gehärtet wird. Erfindungsgemäß überragt der erhitzte Blechzuschnitt (6) zumindest teilweise mit einem Randbereich (7, 8) den Schließbereich zwischen Matrize (2) und Stempel (3), so dass bei geschlossenem Ziehpresswerkzeug (1) dieser Randbereich (7, 8) keinen Werkzeuganlagekontakt hat und damit noch nicht gekühlt und gehärtet wird und weiter formbar bleibt. In einem anschließenden Nachform-Verfahrensschritt wird durch eine Relativbewegung zwischen Werkzeugteilen (2, 3, 4, 5) der Randbereich (7, 8) nachgeformt und gelangt für eine Härtung in Anlage zu einem gekühlten Werkzeugbereich.
