Um den Keramikkörper (einen Feststoffelektrolyten) eines Abgassensors vor Schadstoffen zu schützen, wird der Keramikkörper (14) mit einer Teil- oder Vollummantelung (20) bestückt. Beispielsweise kann diese als Vlies (20) ausgebildet sein. Das Vlies hält schädliche Partikel und Wassertropfen von dem Keramikkörper (14) ab und lässt lediglich Gase durch.
