The roller has a carrier (9) and a flexible casing (5) arranged coaxially outside. An annular space (6) is arranged in a circular condition radially provided below the flexible roller casing. The annular space is partly filled with a liquid (7). The casing is ductile radially inward in a nip forming contact with a counter-pressure element (3), where the liquid of the annular space is displaced in a circumferential direction. Die Erfindung betrifft eine Walze (2) für Maschinen zur Herstellung oder Behandlung von Materialbahnen (10), insbesondere Papier- oder Kartonbahnen, mit einem Träger (9) und einem außen koaxial angeordneten flexiblen Walzenmantel (5). Dabei soll der Aufwand zur Schaffung eines breiten Nips (4) dadurch vermindert werden, dass, radial gesehen, unterhalb des flexiblen Walzenmantels (5) in kreisrundem Zustand ein mit einer Flüssigkeit (7) zumindest teilweise gefüllter Ringraum (6) angeordnet ist.
