Summary: | In a flat composite component for an automobile, comprising a sandwich arrangement (13) of a core layer (12) between two covering layers (16, 16') of polyurethane (PU) containing an embedded fibrous layer, at least one reinforcing element of profile type is embedded in the core layer. Independent claims are included for two methods for producing flat composite components for automobiles, involving: (1) (a) producing a core layer with at least one indentation for the profile-type reinforcing element, (b) locating the reinforcing element in the indentation, (c) producing a sandwich arrangement of the core layer between two fibrous layers, (d) spraying both sides of the sandwich arrangement with PU, (e) pressing the assembly in a mold, so that the PU hardens and forms the geometry of the component and (f) demolding the product; or (2) (a) producing a sandwich arrangement (13) of a thermosetting resin foam between two fibrous layers, (b) spraying both sides of the assembly with PU, (c) pressing the assembly in a mold, so that the PU hardens and forms the geometry of the component and (d) demolding the product.
