The device (2) has multiple roof parts (3) and a flexible folding top ply (4)connected with the roof parts, which are brought from a condition that modularly overstretches a vehicle area into a condition that partially releases the vehicle area. The folding top ply is transferable from a position in which the top ply represents a part of a vehicle roof, into another position in which the top ply acts as a luggage rack and/or as a wind deflector. The former position is parallel to a roof level, and the latter position is approximately parallel to a vehicle vertical axis. Es wird eine Verdeckvorrichtung (2) für ein Kraftfahrzeug (1) mit mehreren Dachteilen (3, 3A) und einer damit wirkverbundenen flexiblen Verdeckstofflage (4), welche wenigstens von einem einen Fahrzeugbereich wenigstens bereichsweise überspannenden Zustand in einen den Fahrzeugbereich wenigstens teilweise freigebenden Zustand verbringbar sind, beschrieben. Die Verdeckstofflage (4) ist aus einer zu einer Dachebene parallelen Lage, in der die Verdeckstofflage (4) einen Teil eines Fahrzeugdaches darstellt und vorzugsweise als Dachhimmel wirkt, in eine zu einer Fahrzeughochachse wenigstens annähernd parallele Lage, in der die Verdeckstofflage (4) als Gepäcknetz und/oder als Windschott wirkt, überführbar.
