This invention relates to a method for creating a connection from a user device to a computer (server) of a service provider via an access network and a transport network. Methods of this kind are required especially to connect user devices to service providers, for example over the internet as a transport network. In this arrangement the user devices are most commonly connected to the transport network via an access network, for example an ethernet-based network. The method according to the invention serves to connect a user device to at least one computer of a service provider connected to a transport network over an access network with at least one access node computer and over the transport network with at least one transmission node computer from the access network to the transport network, whereby the user device is assigned at least one IPv6 address. It is characterized in that each pairing of any one access node computer and any one transmission node computer is assigned an unambiguous pair of bit patterns, and for the respective pairing the access node computer and the transmission node computer are each assigned a topology prefix of the IPv6 address, which in each case contains one of the two bit patterns of the pair of bit patterns.
