Summary: | The method involves arranging a support structure of a motor vehicle at a front end of a safety passenger compartment (1) of a front vehicle comprising a deformable zone (2). Two laterally arranged wheel arches are provided in an area of the deformable zone of the front vehicle. A wheel (3) with a rim (5) is arranged in the wheel arches. A reduction of wheel diameter such as rim diameter, is caused by purposeful failure of the rim during a crash of the motor vehicle. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a support structure for a motor vehicle (2) a wheel rim for a motor vehicle.
