Summary:An X-ray apparatus comprises an anode (11) that generates heat during operation of the X-ray apparatus; and a cooling device in thermal communication with the anode to transfer the heat from the anode. The cooling device has water flowing in it, as a coolant, and comprises a pressure generator that maintains the water at more than 1.1, preferably >=10 bars, in a region of the anode, during the operation of the X-ray apparatus, a housing (12) that surrounds the anode, and a hollow space (15) inside the rotary anode through which the water flows. An independent claim is included for a method of cooling an anode of an X-ray apparatus. Die Erfindung betrifft eine Röntgenvorrichtung mit einer mit einer Kühlflüssigkeit durchströmten Kühleinrichtung (9, 10, 16, 17) zum Kühlen einer Anode (3, 13). Zur Verbesserung der Kühlwirkung ist erfindungsgemäß vorgesehen, dass die Kühlflüssigkeit Wasser ist und eine Druckerzeugungseinrichtung zum Erzeugen eines zumindest in einem zu kühlenden Bereich der Anode (3, 13) wirkenden Wasserdrucks von zumindest 1,1 bar vorgesehen ist.
