The center is electronically switchable. Multiplexer groups (54a, 54b, 54c) are switched by a switch conductor for optionally connecting input connectors with output connectors and data lines. In einem Verfahren zum Übertragen von gerasterten Druckdaten von einem Rasterprozessor zu mindestens einer Zieldruckeinheit in einem Verbund von Druckeinheiten werden die Druckdaten über eine derart umschaltbare Vermittlungsstelle übertragen, dass die Zieldruckeinheit aus den Druckeinheiten auswählbar ist.
