Lustrous, red interference pigment (A), comprises small lamellar substrates (or mixtures) having a coating of iron(III) oxide; a colorless coating of one or more layers, each with refractive index 1.8 or more, optionally also a non-surface covering coating of absorbing, highly refractive material, and optionally an outer protective layer. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) pigment preparation or dry preparation comprising at least one (A) and a binder, optionally also additives, water and/or a solvent; and (2) dry preparation formed as pellets, granules, chips, briquets and extrudates that contain (A). Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft glänzende rote Interferenzpigmente auf der Basis von mehrfach beschichteten plättchenförmigen Substraten bzw. Substratgemischen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass sie DOLLAR A (A) eine Beschichtung aus Fe¶2¶O¶3¶, DOLLAR A (B) eine farblose Beschichtung, bestehend aus einer oder mehreren Schichten jeweils mit einem Brechungsindex n 1,8, DOLLAR A (C) optional eine nicht flächendeckende Belegung mit einem absorbierenden hochbrechenden Material, DOLLAR A und optional DOLLAR A (D) eine äußere Schutzschicht DOLLAR A aufweisen, DOLLAR A sowie deren Verwendung in Farben, Lacken, Pulverlacken, Druckfarben, Kunststoffen, keramischen Materialien, Gläsern, zur Lasermarkierung von Papieren und Kunststoffen, in kosmetischen Formulierungen und zur Herstellung von Pigmentpräparationen und Trockenpräparaten.
