Summary:Method for contact free magnified imaging of a section of the endothelium or epithelium of the cornea of an eye (12) using a slit illumination arrangement (9) for the section of cornea to be imaged in conjunction with an electronic image transducer (4, 5). Method has the following steps: alignment of the imaging optics with the cell layer to be imaged; recording of a series of images of the eye during its uncontrolled movement; and selection of the best image in terms of resolution and contrast. The invention also relates to a corresponding device. The invention relates to a method and devices for obtaining an enlarged image, in a non-contact manner, of a section of the endothelial or epithelial cell layer of the cornea of the eye (12) of a patient. An image of the cell layer to be imaged is projected via a beam splitter (6), by means of an image-forming optical element, onto a first image converter (5) in order to obtain a survey image, and onto a second image converter (4) in order to produce an enlarged image. The image is obtained by recording a sequence of images of the cornea cell layer, on the basis of an approximately focussed base setting, the respectively sharpest image being selected from said sequence. Cell thicknesses and cell morphology are automatically determined from said image. According to the invention, the pupil reflex can also be tested.
