Summary: | In a process to a molecular sieve, the carbon-based molecular sieve material is steam-activated coconut shell processed at approximately 800 deg C and subsequently treated with hydrocarbons at the same temperature. In a process to manufacture a carbon-based molecular sieve for the abstraction of nitrogen from air, a pre-product is slightly activated in the presence of steam at a temperature between 800-900 deg C. The weakly activated product is then treated at 750-850 deg C with hydrocarbon substances to remove carbon compounds.
