Summary:Chaff material for scattering electromagnetic radiation in the region of 0.1-1000 GHz (wavelength lambda 3 m - 3 mm) consists of conducting fibers having a ratio of fiber radius r to wavelength lambda of not more than 10->3> and a ratio of fiber length L to fiber diameter D of at least 100. Preferred Features: The fiber material is made from carbon or conducting metallic fibers or has a conducting metallic coating, preferably made from nickel, tungsten, iron, aluminum or silver. The fibers are coated with a metal layer which is applied using a CVD, especially a MOCVD process.
