POLYMERIZATION PROCESS IN GASEOUS PHASE

Polymers are produced in a stirred bed or gas fluidised bed polymerisation zone of growing polymer particles by (1) introducing a stream of monomer(s), and opt. inert gas(s) or liq(s)., into the polymerisation zone; (2) continuously or intermittently introducing a catalyst; (3) continuously or inter...

Summary:Polymers are produced in a stirred bed or gas fluidised bed polymerisation zone of growing polymer particles by (1) introducing a stream of monomer(s), and opt. inert gas(s) or liq(s)., into the polymerisation zone; (2) continuously or intermittently introducing a catalyst; (3) continuously or intermittently withdrawing polymer; and (4) continuously withdrawing unreacted gases, compressing and cooling the gases while maintaining the temp. in the polymerisation zone below the dew pt. of at least one monomer; with the proviso that if there is only one monomer present in the feed stream, an inert gas is also present.
