Summary: | Process for the preparation of primary amines from aldehydes by mixing an aldehyde with a diluent, the temperature of the mixture being not more than 5@C in the case of an alcohol or of water as the diluent so as to avoid the formation of the hemiacetal or the aldehyde hydrate, and bringing the mixture into contact with a mixture of ammonia, hydrogen and hydrogenation catalyst, thus preventing the formation of an imine, at temperatures from 60 to 180@C and pressures from 20 to 60 bar, using not less than 15 mol of ammonia per mole of aldehyde group, and device for carrying out the process. |
