The invention provides a new antibiotic SR-1223 and its prepn. method. The antibiotic shows strong growth suppression for some phytopathogenic filamentous bacteria, and may be expected to be an antibiotic agent for agriculture. It can be obtd. by culturing the streptomycin SP.SR-1223.
