The present disclosure provides a surface cleaning apparatus including an upright body, a base, a recovery system, a fluid delivery system, a brush roller, a brush roller motor, a brush roller latch, and a mating component wherein a portion of the brush roller latch forming a portion of a sidewall of the base housing is captured by the nozzle assembly when the nozzle assembly is mounted on the base housing, and wherein the portion of the brush roller latch forms a portion of the sidewall of the base housing when the nozzle assembly is mounted on the base housing. Therefore, accidental release of the brush roller is prevented.
