A wide-spectrum light source based on an LED comprises a light source shell, an LED constant-current drive circuit, an LED array, a convergence light path and an optical fiber coupler, and the light source shell is connected with the LED constant-current drive circuit, the LED array, the convergence light path and the optical fiber coupler; wherein the LED constant current drive circuit is connected with the LED array, provides stable current drive for the LED array, and is positioned behind the LED array; the LED array is composed of a plurality of single-color LEDs and white-light LEDs, thewhite-light LEDs are placed in the center of the LED array, and the single-color LEDs are placed on the outer ring in a symmetrical mode. The converging light path is placed in the light source shelland is placed in front of the LED array; and the output end of the converging light path is connected with the optical fiber coupler.
