An apparatus for biological or chemical analysis has a circuit of electrical interconnects for external electrical connection and sensor (s) on a die in combination with a stacked manifold to delivera liquid reagent on an active surface of the sensor (s). The stacked manifold includes fluid channel (s), and an interface between the die and the fluid channel (s) is sealed. Also disclosed is a method comprising assembling a stacked manifold comprising fluid channel (s), attaching sensor (s) on a die to an electrical circuit, the electrical circuit comprising an electrical interconnect, and attaching a planarization layer to the electrical circuit, the planarization layer comprising a cutout for the die.
