The hand-held searching instrument comprises a housing; and an antenna and a display module are installed at the surface of the housing. A power module, a control module, a wireless communication module, a positioning module and an alarm module are arranged inside the housing; the control module is respectively connected with the antenna, the display module, the alarm module, and the wireless communication module; the control module is connected with the positioning module by a level conversion circuit; the power module provides power for the display module, the control module, the wireless communication module, the positioning module, and the alarm module; and a power self-locking circuit is connected between the power module and the control module. A power voltage of the positioning module is lower than that of the control module. According to the technical scheme, a wireless signal sent by an electronic tag installed at a calibration source can be received and positioning and displaying can be carried out. Meanwhile, the instrument has an advantage of lower power consumption, so that the user can use the instrument outdoors for long time.
