The utility model discloses a gear and rack mechanism of an electric detector for workpieces. The gear and rack mechanism comprises a base and a machine frame arranged on the base. A clamping block used for installation of workpieces is arranged on the base. An arc groove is formed in the clamping block. The machine frame is provided with a first fixing block, a second fixing block, a first gear and a second gear, wherein the first gear and the second gear are both hinged to the machine frame; the first fixing block and the second fixing block are each provided with a first electrical contact; the second gear is connected with a horizontal lever, and the lever is provided with a second electric contact which is arranged between the first fixing block and the second fixing block. The machine frame is provided with a sliding seat which is connected with a vertical measuring rod in a sliding mode. The measuring rod is arranged over the clamping block and fixedly connected with a rack meshed with the first gear. The gear and rack mechanism of the electric detector for the workpieces is simple in structure, convenient and fast to operate and high in accuracy.
