A pressure adjusting device for a pressure roll of a folding machine comprises a rack, a thrust bearing, a synchronously block, a worm gear, a worm, a lead screw, a ratchet wheel, a spring pawl and a spring collision bead, wherein the rack is provided with two transverse plates; the two transverse plates serve as supporting components of the whole device; the lead screw penetrates in the two transverse plates of the rack and is vertically and rotatably connected to the rack; the synchronous block is rotatably connected with the upper end of the lead screw and the pressure roll; the worm gear and the worm are meshed with each other perpendicularly; the worm gear is in threaded connection with the rack through the lead screw; the worm is rotatably connected with the rack; the lower portion of the worm gear on the lead screw is fixedly connected with a ratchet wheel; the spring pawl is arranged on a plane, which is parallel to the ratchet in the radial direction, of the rack; and a portion, which is positioned above the worm gear, of the rack is slidably connected with the spring collision bead. By the pressure adjusting device, pressure is adjusted accurately, simply and conveniently, even unskilled workers can operate the pressure adjusting device, the folding machine can be quickly adjusted to be in a suitable working state, a machine testing step is omitted, and the defective percentage is greatly reduced.
