A light-emitting diode (LED) illumination unit mainly comprises a lamp panel, LEDs, a control board, control elements and wires, wherein a screw rod penetrates the lamp panel and the control board, a lamp panel nut tightly fixes the lamp panel at the lower end of the screw rod, an upper control board nut and a lower control board nut of the control board tightly fix the control board on the screw rod, the upper end of the screw rod is screwed into a threaded hole of an existing lamp installation base body so that the control board and the lamp panel are hung on the screw rod, and the mains power supply is led into a power source plug-in sleeve and supplies power to the LEDs on the lamp panel through the control board.
