The device comprises a shell, a power plug and a wire, an electric appliance socket and a wire, a computer transmission line and a controller, wherein the wires are extended out from reserved holes in the shell, the computer transmission line is a four-core transmission line of which one end is a serial port joint of a 9-pin female head and the other end is a 4-pin telephone line joint, and the controller is wrapped in the shell and includes a microcomputer processor, a communication chip, a circuit board, a transmission line socket, a relay and a transformer. A power supply of an electric appliance can be switched on/off under the control of a computer by plugging a power plug of the electric appliance in the electric appliance socket extended out from the device and connecting the computer transmission line with the device after the power plug of the device is plugged in a mains supply socket.
