Summary:The utility model discloses a ladder with retractable columns, which comprises two vertical load-bearing support columns (1) and at least two step crosspieces (2). Two ends of each crosspiece (2) are fixedly connected with the two support columns (1) respectively. The lower ends the support columns (1) are directly supported on the ground, and a retractable support device is mounted at the lower end of at least one support column (1) so that the support columns (1) are adjustable in length. Each retractable support device comprises a retractable ladder base and a manual control device, and length variation of the support columns (1) are achieved by orthogonal transmission of a spur-bevel gear set. By means of the ladder with the retractable columns, the defect that the ladder is unavailable or unsafe to use on a slope or non-plane is overcome, application range of the ladder is widened, and safety in use of the ladder is improved.
