Summary:The object of this invention is to provided a honeycomb structure which is excellent in the resistance to thermal shock. The honeycomb structure wherein a plurality of porous ceramic members, in which a great number of cells being provided across cell walls in parallel in the longitudinal direction, are adhered via adhesive material layers, characterized in that the above adhesive material layer has an orientation degree omega of inorganic fibers determined according to the method of Saltykov of 0.2<=omega<=0.7 or -0.7<=omega<=-0.2.
