Summary:The invention relates to a directional solidify steel ingot side wall dual-layer hollow heat insulator. Wherein, said device has two layers of thermal insulated materials at the inner side of casting section filled with steel liquid; there is thermal insulated gas layer between said two layers; the inner layer contacts the steel liquid; the steel liquid and thermal insulated gas layer have thermal insulated heater above; the water cold basis is at the bottom. Compared with present technique, the invention has high thermal insulation effect, to reduce the thermal conduction of side wall, to support the growth of post crystal and improve the quality of casting ingot.
