Summary:After a client device has started streaming reproduction, the moving picture portion recorded by a server device can be reproduced in a special way in a client device. The server device includes: a recording unit for recording a moving picture to generate moving picture data formed by a predetermined data unit and generating management information in which the reproduction time is correlated to the data size for each data unit; a recording medium for accumulating the moving picture data and the management information; a reception unit which can receive a management information acquisition request and a data unit transmission request from the client device; a request processing unit for reading out the management information in response to the acquisition request, reading out the data unit in response to the transmission request, and instructing a transmission; and a transmission unit for transmitting the instructed management information and the data unit. When the data unit transmission request is received after the management information is transmitted, the request processing unit instructs transmission of the data unit specified by the transmission request together with at least a part of the latest management information.
