Summary:PURPOSE: An advanced wastewater treatment using floating filter media is provided, which can treat organics, nitrogen and phosphorus in wastewater with low C/N ratio efficiently. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises an anaerobic tank(10) for separating coarse grits from raw wastewater; a flow equalization tank(20); a first, a second and a third upflow intermittent aeration tanks(30,40,50) filled with floating filter media, which are capable of changing flow passage; a sludge thickening tank(60) in which biofilm floc sloughed off from the floating filter media by back washing is settled, and settled sludge is drained to outside; a sterilization tank(80); a high frequency vibrator which induces biofilm sloughing from the floating filter media before backwashing; and a fluidized bed reactor(70) in which Ca-coated filter media react with phosphate in wastewater to form hydroxyapatite precipitate (Ca5(PO4)3OH).
