本发明涉及一种涂料组合物以及使用该组合物的涂装方法，所述涂料组合物，其特征在于，以含有选自1分子中具有2个以上的环氧基的环氧树脂(a)与二元酸(b)以及含有羧基的丙烯酸树脂(c-1)反应形成的改性环氧树脂(d-1)，使该环氧树脂(a)与二元酸(b)共聚、以及与聚合性不饱和单体(c-2)接枝聚合或共聚形成的改性环氧树脂(d-2)中的至少一种改性环氧树脂(I)、该改性环氧树脂用固化剂(II)、以及有机溶剂(III)作为必须成分，该有机溶剂含有选自脂肪族烃系溶剂和高沸点芳香族烃系溶剂的烃系溶剂80重量％以上。 PURPOSE: A paint composition is provided to give an under coat with improved impact resistance and dryness, without obstructing top coat curing. The composition is soluble in aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents and aromatic hydrocarbon solvents having high boiling point. A painting method using the composition is provided to form a multilayered coat without causing problems in curing of a base coat and a top coat, regardless of their types. CONSTITUTION: The paint composition comprises: (I) a modified epoxy resin at least one selected from a modified epoxy resin(d-1) obtained by reacting an epoxy resin(a) having two or more of epoxy groups in one molecule with a dibasic acid(b) and with an acryl resin(c-1) containing a carboxylic group; and a modified epoxy resin(d-2) obtained by carrying out polyaddition of the dibasic acid(b) to the epoxy resin(a) and thereto graft (co)polymerizing polymeric unsaturated monomers(c-2); (II) a curing agent for the modified epoxy resin; and (III) an organic solvent, wherein the organic solvent comprises 80wt% or more of hydrocarbon solvents selected from aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents or aromatic hydrocarbon solvents having a high boiling point. The painting method using a two-stage system comprising an under coat and a top coat, comprises the use of said paint composition as an under coat.
