Summary: | A graded index plastic fiber is a plastic optical fiber with the refractive index being gradual changed radially. The distribution of the refractive index being gradual changed in realized by using the diffusible molecules possessing the different refractive indexes as the refractive index regulator. Different amount of the regulator is diluted into the matrix of polymer so as to obtain the polymers with different refractive indexes. With the multiplex extruders being used, the polymers enters the feeding gate, which is in the shape of the central hole and multiple layer of annular openings, through the composite cavity and the cone-shaped extrusion exit. Thus, the transparent polymer with the core in the center and multiple layers in different refractive indexes being wrapped is obtainedso as to form the graded index plastic fiber with its refractive index being distributed in parabola shape. |
