Summary: | Production of polyether polyols by reaction of diols or polyols with a 2-4C alkylene oxide in the presence of a multi-metal cyanide complex catalyst comprises use of a tall vertical cylindrical reactor with a central stirrer and heat exchange plates arranged in the longitudinal direction of the reactor at an angle, alpha , of 0-70 [deg] in the direction of rotation of the stirrer to the reactor radius. A process for the production of polyether polyols (I) by reaction of diols or polyols with ethylene oxide, propylene oxide and/or butylene oxide in the presence of a multi-metal cyanide complex catalyst (II) comprises carrying out the reaction in a tall vertical cylindrical reactor with a central stirrer and heat exchanger plates, through which a heat exchange medium flows and which are arranged essentially in the longitudinal direction of the reactor at an angle alpha , of 0-70 [deg] in the direction of rotation of the stirrer to the reactor radius. |
