Summary:The invention discloses a catalyst for synthesis of dimethyl carbonate and the method for preparation, the catalyst comprising of a main catalytic component of among 0.1- 5wt%, a catalyst promoter of among 0.1- 6wt%, chlorine carrier of among 0.1- 10wt%, and the rest carrier, the main catalytic component being platinum group metal halide, the catalyst promoter being Fe, Cu, Co, Mo, W, La, Ce, Na, K or Ca metal chloride, the chlorine carrier being the IIIA metal chloride. The catalyst has a good stability, keeping active more than 300h in a condition of none adding chloride ion, and keeping highly active long time in a condition of adding chloride ion adequately. íí
