Summary:PURPOSE: To provide a geared motor capable of reliably performing engaging/ disengaging motions of a clutch means arranged between a motor and an output shaft. CONSTITUTION: The clutch means 4 comprises a first clutch member (a rotor 11 in the example of this figure) arranged on the rotor 11 side and a second clutch member 21 arranged on the output shaft 3 side. Pawls 11d and 21d, which are meshed with each other to engage the clutch means 4 when the clutch members 11 and 21 approach each other, are provided on the opposite faces of both clutch members 11 and 21 respectively. In order to prevent the apexes of the pawls 11d and 21d from being brought into contact with each other to lock both clutch members 11 and 21 when the pawls 11d and 21d are meshed with each other, the pawl 11d on the first clutch member 11 side is positioned at a prescribed position by detent torque, and the pawl 21 on the second clutch member 21 side is positioned at another prescribed position by utilizing a clutch switching means 41.
