Summary:A hydrotrope is used in a detergent composition, which comprises an anionic sulphate surfactant and which upon contact with water can form a viscous mixture of water and the particle, to reduce the viscosity of this mixture. The granular detergent composition, comprises an anionic sulphate surfactant, present at a level of from 0.01% to 95% by weight of the composition, and a hydrotrope, present at a level of from 0.01% to 60.0% by weight of the composition. The hydrotrope may be sodium toluene sulphonate.
