Summary:A pumice-based medium excellent in properties required of media for cultivation in facilities. The medium for cultivation is characterized by being constituted of pumice particles having a coefficient of saturation water permeability of 0.3 to 0.8 cm/sec and a coefficient of air permeability of 15 to 40 cm/sec as measured on dry and wet samples. Also provided as another embodiment is a medium for cultivation which comprises the medium constituted of pumice particles having these properties and charcoal incorporated therein.
